KOIWAIJAPAN

An agricultural retreat within one of Japan’s great landscapes.

AZUMA FARM Koiwai is an intimate 24-villa retreat set within the historic Koiwai Farm at the foot of Mount Iwate. Established in 1891, the surrounding farm spans nearly 3,000 hectares of forest, pasture, agriculture, and protected cultural heritage—land shaped and stewarded continuously for more than a century.

Created in collaboration with JR East, Azumi Japan, and Koiwai Farm, AZUMA approaches rural hospitality through a distinctly Japanese idea of farm life. Architecture, food, fire, forest, craft, and regional culture are woven into an experience that feels less like a conventional resort and more like inhabiting the landscape itself.
