MAHAMAN
“MAHA”
&
“AMAN”
The best spaces don’t shelter us from the world—they ground us in it. By integrating design, nature, culture and service, Mahaman creates a lifestyle that is distinctly our own. Whether you’re on our properties for a short time or a lifetime, you’ll reimagine what it means to feel at home.
MAHAMAN designs, develops and operates residences, private clubs and ultra-luxury resorts that stand apart as catalysts for panoramic living. Its properties blend immersive architectural, social and environmental experiences for which its Co-Founders, Adrian Zecha and Jonathan Breene, have garnered reputations as two of the world’s leaders in hospitality and residential development.
No two properties are ever the same. Our approach isn’t either.
Every project begins differently, shaped by the land itself, the culture surrounding it, and the people who will bring it to life. There is no formula, no signature aesthetic applied from one destination to the next. Each project we choose to undertake demands its own response.
The Architect

For Adrian Zecha and Jonathan Breene, the process has always started with one essential decision: the architect. Getting this right changes everything that follows. Over nearly four decades, they have built enduring relationships with a trusted group of architects and designers whose work is rooted in restraint, sensitivity and a deep understanding of place.
The Build
Execution matters as much as vision. Every project is supported by an experienced team overseeing the process from planning through delivery, ensuring the original vision is carried through with discipline and care. Budgets, timelines, materials, and long-term operational functionality are considered from the beginning. The goal is not simply to build beautifully, but to build responsibly and enduringly.
“What’s more important: the design or the service?
You cannot clap with one hand.”
- Adrian Zecha
The Experience
Architecture may shape the atmosphere, but it is people who give a place its soul. Service, food, wellness and privacy are considered with the same care as the physical environment itself. The result is hospitality that feels natural, deeply personal, and enduring.
Adrian Zecha
Adrian Zecha is one of the defining figures in luxury hospitality. Since founding Aman Resorts in 1988, he has perennially created entirely new expressions of luxury travel, rooted in understated design, deep respect for place, and exceptional service.
Before founding Mahaman, he led GHM and was a founding partner of Regent International Hotels, personally shaping some of the world’s most influential luxury hotel brands.

“After 50 years of creating resorts in unique destinations, my passion for discovery and hospitality is still alive. I continue to travel the world in search of places in which people who appreciate rich culture and unending attention to detail can find new inspiration. My journey continues.”
- Adrian Zecha

“Adrian and I began our journey with a vision of creating a serene oasis in the heart of South Beach, and we collectively created The Setai, one of the world’s most awarded hotels. With Mahaman’s brands as our canvas, we will continue expanding this vision in both urban and resort locations throughout the world.”

Nick Fung
Nick Fung serves as Executive Director of Asia at MAHAMAN, where he provides development & design leadership across the group’s hospitality and residential portfolio. An architect and designer by training, Mr. Fung has worked closely with Adrian Zecha and Jonathan Breene for more than 25 years, developing a shared design philosophy centered on authenticity, restraint and a strong connection between architecture, interiors, landscape and the experience of place.
Their collaboration began with The Setai Miami Beach, where Mr. Fung contributed to the creation of a distinctive design language that brought together Asian influences and the architectural character of Miami Beach. The project established many of the principles that have continued to inform their work together: respect for context and culture, disciplined design, natural materials and an understanding of how architecture must support both service and the guest experience.
Mr. Fung subsequently collaborated with Mr. Zecha and Mr Breene on a number of significant hospitality and residential projects, including Aman at the Summer Palace in Beijing, Ahn Luh and MAHA Club & Residences Beijing. Across these projects, his approach has remained deliberately understated, seeking to create environments that feel authentic to their location rather than imposing a predetermined design language.
At MAHA Club & Residences Beijing, Mr. Fung helped develop a residential concept that reinterpreted the relationship between luxury hospitality and the primary urban home. Rather than applying a traditional resort model to a residential environment, the project considered how the principles of hospitality—privacy, service, wellness and social connection—could be integrated naturally into everyday life. MAHA Club was conceived as an extension of the residence, providing a private social and wellness environment for residents and their guests.
At MAHAMAN, Mr. Fung works closely with the founders, architects, interior designers and landscape teams to establish and maintain the design direction of each project. His role extends beyond architecture and interiors to the broader experience of a property, ensuring that design, service and operations are considered as part of a cohesive whole from the earliest stages of development.
Central to Mr. Fung’s work is the belief that successful luxury design should possess a sense of permanence. Together with Mr. Zecha, he has focused on creating places that mature gracefully, remain relevant beyond changing trends and ultimately become properties of enduring value—environments sufficiently considered and personal to be passed from one generation to the next.
